Chapter One: Introduction

1.1 Background of the Study
Crisis management is an integral aspect of public relations (PR), particularly during events where unforeseen challenges can arise. In Yola North Local Government Area, Adamawa State, PR strategies are employed to mitigate risks, address crises, and ensure the smooth execution of events. Effective crisis management involves proactive planning, timely communication, and stakeholder engagement to minimize the impact of disruptions on an event's success. According to Musa and Adewale (2023), PR plays a pivotal role in maintaining public confidence and protecting organizational reputations during crises. However, the effectiveness of PR in managing crises during events in Yola North remains underexplored, particularly in the context of local socio-economic and cultural dynamics.

1.2 Statement of the Problem
Events in Yola North LGA often face crises such as logistical failures, security concerns, and negative publicity, which can undermine their success. Despite the critical role of PR in crisis management, many event organizers lack the expertise or resources to implement effective strategies. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of PR in managing crises during events, identifying best practices and areas for improvement.
